“For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.”
-Habakkuk 2:3
July 12, 2010 will mark the grand opening of The Brooks J. Young Transitional Home.
It will be a sanctuary for women and their dependent children who need a means
of escape from damaging and sometimes deadly acts as a result of domestic violence.
The Brooks J. Young Transitional Home for Women is named after domestic violence advocate, author, motivational speaker, and business entrepreneur. The home will be a safe haven for women of all ages who find themselves seeking a safe haven from the grips of domestic violence. They will be provided a temporary sanctuary while receiving counseling, financial literacy, computer training, healing and grief support groups, G.E.D classes, attending workshops, connecting with mentors and viable tools and resources that will assist them in coping with the rest of their lives and transitioning into a better tomorrow.
Young, a domestic violence survivor says, "This transitional home for women will be one where women can feel safe while they learn how to rebuild, renew and restore their lives apart from the domestic abuse and abuser. Women will be able to openly discuss their fears and the future they desire for themselves and their children."
The home is privately funded by resources, fundraisers, sponsors, advocates and survivors.
